  1. Wagner archives
Yesterday the whole class visited the Wagner archieves center to get a more of feel on what its like to deal with primary sources and going out and finding them for more of a direct reliable source of facts. They also collect and preserve alot of historical records in archives so if a student ever needed to do some research and gather good solid primary facts instead of risking collecting information that has been tampered with and not factual like the internet the archives is a great place to go to. When the class got to the Wagner archives center a lady that works there gave us a tour of the place and while she was at it she gave us a document that related what my english class is currently talking about which is he Harlem Riots of 1964. She gave us a script of an actual speech the mayor at that time in 1964 that mayor Robert F. Wagner gave in July 22 in Liederkranz Hall, NYC where he talked about how he was unsatisfied with the devistating conditions of his city when he came back after attendeding a world conference regarding unemployment and civil rights in Europe. The tour of the archives was really heplful in making me understand that in order to really capture the essence and big attributes of an important historical event that occured you can really dig deep and find good information and facts from that primary source that you cant really get from books and stories and sites online which can give you big edge in doing research on any topic
